The Story Behind the Owner
Paul Minnihan graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1991 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has been creating beautiful paintings ever since. His expertise includes commissioned portraits, commercial backdrops, gilding, expert color matching, glazing, top quality Venetian plaster and other textures, trompe l’oeil and more. His background in marbling and woodgraining is equally as impressive. Paul recently finished an entire library interior in faux wood paneling that looks nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.
Prior to starting Paul Minnihan Studios in 2000, Paul was employed by some of the top decorative painting firms in Chicago. In addition to his experience painting murals and finishes, Paul has taught masters chefs across the country the art of airbrushing on pastries and assisted the highly respected Sebastion Cannone of The French Pastry School in winning the 2004 International Competitive Pastry Tournament.
Paul continues to research and explore painting techniques old and new from all sources, particularly in those works he has encountered on his travels abroad. In fact, at least once each year, Paul tries to visit a different sacred destination across the globe in order to infuse his work with the spirit and craft of a different culture.
